Marta was born and raised in Italy, where she began her photographic practice before studying at the Superior School of Image Arts LE 75 in Brussels, Belgium.
Marta began documenting the migrant experience in 2007: with the contrasting themes of hope and darkness.
She explored the manifestation of restriction and freedom in 'Etat de transit' , a project on sub-Saharan migrants stuck in Morocco, the land of "transit" to Europe.
After that, exploring memory, place, and connection became a recurring theme in her visual language.
She has lived in northern Europe, Mexico, and the United States.
In 2010, with the birth of her first child, Marta began to investigate the influence of immigrant experience on herself .
She lives and works in Miami.
